Please read through this page to get started with the registration process. Our user registration requirements are intended to ensure that the entire system remains in compliance with all federal and state regulations regarding two-way radio traffic.

1. Requirements for All Users

All users wishing to join the NEXCOM system must must posess at least one of the following licenses/certifications:

  • A valid FCC (United States) or RAC (Canada) amateur radio license
  • A valid FCC General Radiotelephone Operators License (GROL)
  • A valid FCC or ISED commercial two-way radio license

Valid licenses will be confirmed by a system administrator after initial user registration. Most licenses will be confirmed without any further user action, however on occasion a NEXCOM system administrator may reach out to request additional proof of licensure.

2. Requirements for RF Sites

Any users wishing to connect an RF site must adhere to the following additional requirements:

  • All RF sites must be licensed for their operating frequencies by the relevant governing body (FCC in the United States, or ISED in Canada)
  • Operation on amateur radio frequencies is strictly forbidden
  • Hotspot sites (simplex or duplex) transmitting through an amplifier of any kind must be measured as remaining in compliance with all spectral mask requirements of the site license

Valid licenses will be confirmed by a system administrator after initial user registration. Most licenses will be confirmed without any further user action, however on occasion a NEXCOM system administrator may reach out to request additional proof of licensure.

3. NEXCOM System Terms and Conditions

Please read through the following terms and conditions of your use of the NEXCOM system:

Users must not use the NEXCOM infrastructure for any personal financial gain. Additionally, NEXCOM must not be used for any safety-critical or life-saving purposes, as the system is not engineered to guarantee high reliability 24/7/365. Excessive use of profanity or any other use which would violate the provisions of site licenses is also forbidden. Users which violate these terms will be removed from membership and barred from further connection to the NEXCOM FNE.
